Listen closely.

To us, music is something to be listened to, not a set of measurements to be pursued. Specifications do not tell the whole story: the vitality and beauty of the sound is what we are after.

Top Audio is an independent English-language magazine for people who care about music and want clear advice about the equipment used to hear it.

We review products in complete systems, in ordinary rooms and over enough time for novelty to wear off. Measurements provide context. Listening decides whether a product communicates music.

How we work

Our reviews separate reporting from advertising. Manufacturers may provide loan samples but do not approve copy, scores or conclusions. Affiliate relationships and sponsored projects will always be identified on the relevant page.
